Weber GmbH & Co. KG – A Family Business with Continuity

Weber GmbH & Co. KG is an independent, owner-managed, medium-sized family business and a development supplier for the automotive, building and heating technology, and household appliance industries. For around 70 years – now in its third generation of family ownership – the name Weber has stood for high quality, innovation, and flexibility. With approximately 1,400 employees, the Weber Group develops and manufactures plastic components, modules and systems, as well as injection moulding tools. In 2017, the company generated a turnover of approximately €136 million.

Project Scope and Objectives

Since 2005, the company has been a customer of d.velop AG. The long-standing business relationship began with the introduction of digital files and process optimisation through d.velop’s digital invoice processing solution. This enabled Weber to completely replace its paper archive in a short period of time. Since the initial implementation of the software, the system has been continuously developed. New document types are regularly added, and additional workflows are being created on an ongoing basis.

After 13 years, it is clear that the internal research effort has been significantly reduced. All product and project information is centrally stored in digital files within the document management system and can be quickly and easily retrieved using metadata tagging. The introduction of digital invoice processing has enabled the company to achieve significantly higher cash discount earnings. Furthermore, since the software went live, there has been no paper archive at the Weber site in Dillenburg. The number of documents in the DMS is now approaching the 5 million mark. Of these, 3.7 million documents are legally subject to capitalisation requirements.
