Nord-West Oelleitung GmbH

Founded in 1956 with the goal of constructing and operating the first long-distance mineral oil pipeline in Europe, Nord-West Oelleitung GmbH (NWO) was commissioned as early as 1958 to ensure the supply of mineral oil to refineries in the Emsland and Rhine-Ruhr regions.

For over 50 years, NWO has successfully managed its core operations – transshipment, storage, and transportation – under the guiding principle of “protecting people and the environment.” The company places particular emphasis on the safe operation of its facilities, drawing on the extensive experience and expertise of its employees. To date, approximately one billion tonnes of mineral oil have been handled and transported via NWO’s facilities, involving over 18,000 tankers.

Project Scope and Objectives

Since 2007, Nord-West Oelleitung GmbH (NWO) has been a customer of d.velop. With the practical implementation of d.velop’s document management system (DMS), the company has experienced significant time savings in research-related tasks. Documents can also be easily shared directly from the DMS.

IT Manager Harald Borchers particularly praises the speed that becomes evident during audits. Auditors are equally impressed: all required documents can be provided digitally at a moment’s notice. From the very beginning, NWO has stored a large number of technical documents in the DMS. This significantly reduces the workload across the entire organisation, especially since audits are a frequent occurrence in this industry.
