The Swiss kitchen manufacturer HERZOG Küchen AG, with over 100 years of tradition, stands for high-quality products and services centred around the home kitchen — from consultation, sampling, and planning to production, installation, and specialised after-sales services.
HERZOG has been a customer of d.velop AG since 2008 and has continuously expanded the functionality of its document management system (DMS). In addition to standard DMS features, HERZOG Küchen uses digital business processes for order handling, scanning components for digital mail and invoice receipt, and audit-proof long-term archiving with the FileLock storage software from GRAU DATA.

HERZOG Küchen AG relies on cloud-based DMS
HERZOG Küchen decided some time ago to migrate its on-premises installation to the d.velop cloud. As a result, the administrative workload has been reduced, allowing IT staff to focus on other internal processes. Costs are demand-based and depend on actual service usage – HERZOG Küchen is thrilled.

Customer Motivation
At the end of 2018, the company was facing a new investment in hardware. As part of this, various options were carefully considered — one of which was migrating to the d.velop cloud. Raphael Herzog, one of the owners and Head of IT, sees the main advantage of a cloud migration in the elimination of infrastructure maintenance, allowing his employees to refocus on other core tasks. Going forward, he no longer sees hotfixes and patches as the responsibility of his administrators. Instead of investing in new hardware, HERZOG Küchen opted for a gradual migration of the existing on-premises DMS system to the d.velop cloud, which is hosted on AWS servers in Frankfurt.

Benefits of the Migration
By migrating to the d.velop cloud, HERZOG Küchen AG has achieved significant cost savings, primarily due to the reduction in operating expenses. Additionally, the effort required for software maintenance — previously handled by d.velop and GRAU DATA — has decreased thanks to the move to the cloud. A key benefit lies in the reduced administrative workload for the IT staff. The time saved can now be invested in optimising other internal processes, further contributing to the company’s digital transformation.
The Project
The transfer of all on-premises functionalities to the cloud. The migration took place over a short period from June 2017 to December 2017, enabling HERZOG Küchen to operate productively in the cloud since January 2018 — making them a custom cloud customer of d.velop.
Today, 140 users access the system with integrated workflow functionalities. Batch-oriented scanning is carried out in the cloud, and both Azure AD and ERP 2020 are also connected.
