It\u2019s time we took a closer look at the different versions of Microsoft Dynamics.\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-beyondwords-marker=\"7e7be2df-bc9d-4c1c-abe0-77db593b9b8b\">The most common business applications include customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise resource planning (ERP), supply chain management (SCM) and other modules.\u202fThese variants cover a wide range of areas and Dynamics 365<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p data-beyondwords-marker=\"3ee95171-e381-4286-8d17-fe9baac3c12d\">AX (Axapta) is an earlier version of Microsoft Dynamics 365 that was developed specifically for ERP requirements.\u202fIt offers capabilities for financial management, procurement and supply chain, manufacturing, retail, sales and marketing, human resources management, and more.\u202fDynamics AX\u202fwas particularly suitable for medium-sized and large companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-beyondwords-marker=\"54f92648-7917-4d58-8d76-2ff4e05c238a\">With the successor Microsoft Dynamics 365, Microsoft is consistently pursuing the conversion to a cloud platform.\u202fIt includes a number of cloud-based applications that support various business functions.\u202fMicrosoft Dynamics 365 includes modules for CRM, ERP, customer service, sales, marketing, finance, project management and more.\u202fIt offers an integrated cloud platform that helps companies optimise their processes and manage business data effectively.\u202fMicrosoft Dynamics 365 in the form of finance, operations or supply chain management is aimed more at large companies.\u202fThe Business Central\u202fsolution is\u202fmore suitable for smaller companies &#8211; more on this in the section after next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 data-beyondwords-marker=\"35dbdb56-1220-4c1a-a8d3-2ba4f17dc69a\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-upgrade-from-dynamics-crm-to-dynamics-sales-customer-engagement\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"upgrade-from-dynamics-crm-to-dynamics-sales-customer-engagement\"><\/span>Upgrade from Dynamics CRM to Dynamics Sales \/ Customer Engagement<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p data-beyondwords-marker=\"f68edfb9-d873-4b4f-bf56-74fb77976ac6\">Microsoft Dynamics CRM was an earlier version of Dynamics specifically aimed at customer relationship management (CRM).\u202fIt helped companies manage customer relationships, sales, customer service, marketing and analytics.\u202fJust like AX ERP, Dynamics CRM was also intended for on-prem operation.\u202fAt that time, the cloud operating form was not feasible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-beyondwords-marker=\"ddbc1d5a-7e20-4f8d-8de8-854930ba12d9\">In fall 2016, Microsoft Dynamics CRM was replaced by its successor, Dynamics 365 Sales.\u202fWith the introduction of Microsoft Dynamics 365, the CRM functions were integrated into the Dynamics 365 Sales \/ Customer Engagement application.\u202fMicrosoft&#8217;s strategy towards the cloud and business apps platform was apparent for their ongoing business model.\u202fThis means that many apps have been developed for different business areas on the sales stack.\u202fThese include CRM \/ Sales, Customer Service, Marketing, Project Management, Retail, Field Service and Talent as an HR module.\u202fThese functional apps can also be used individually or combined to form a complete solution.\u202fThis platform approach (based on the Microsoft Power Platform) means there are no longer any piecemeal issues and the\u202fbusiness processes\u202fare mapped holistically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 data-beyondwords-marker=\"619c41a3-cf8f-425e-b1a1-f546a6d05731\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-microsoft-dynamics-nav-and-business-central-the-solution-for-smes\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"microsoft-dynamics-nav-and-business-central-%e2%80%93-the-solution-for-smes\"><\/span>Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Business Central \u2013 the solution for SMEs<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p data-beyondwords-marker=\"ff887f64-3841-41e7-a571-8f5447e74219\">Microsoft Dynamics NAV was an earlier version of Dynamics and emerged from the acquisition of NAVISION Software.\u202fThe software was also developed for enterprise resource planning (ERP).\u202fDynamics NAV combined many functions for financial management, sales, purchasing, warehousing, production and more.\u202fThe solution was particularly suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).\u202fWith the introduction of Dynamics 365,\u202fMicrosoft Dynamics NAV\u202fwas renamed Dynamics 365 Business Central from 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-beyondwords-marker=\"53c62330-6d5e-4178-b83c-961a9d902d3f\">Business Central is currently available in the cloud and on-premises.\u202fThe individual functions are bundled or encapsulated in a system, unlike Dynamics 365 Sales \/ Customer Engagement and Finance and Operations where individual modules are used.\u202fInstead, there are many industry solutions available on the market for a wide variety of application areas.\u202fThese specific solutions are adapted so that your typical requirements do not have to be developed at great expense, but rather complement the standard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 data-beyondwords-marker=\"99eceb53-2540-4ad2-bf40-920f3df3ddda\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-is-it-possible-to-connect-the-d-velop-platform-with-microsoft-dynamics-365\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"how-is-it-possible-to-connect-the-dvelop-platform-with-microsoft-dynamics-365\"><\/span>How is it possible to connect the d.velop platform with Microsoft Dynamics 365?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p data-beyondwords-marker=\"65639957-b4da-49b2-a991-11821987c457\">After the overview of the Microsoft Dynamics solutions, the question arises, how
